The current UK recommendation is 270mm of mineral wool loft insulation. Many older homes have just 50–100mm, or compressed insulation performing well below its rating. We top up or replace to reach the recommended depth and U-value.
Knauf mineral wool is the most cost-effective way to reach the recommended 270mm depth and is ideal for standard lofts. Superfoil multi-layer foil is much thinner, making it the better choice where headroom matters or where you want to insulate over existing material.
